BORROWED GROUND, MORUYA

Eliza and Alex run Borrowed Ground market garden on the river flats of Moruya. Collectively they have been growing vegetables on Australian soils and overseas since interning at Old Mill Road in Turlinjah in 2016. After returning from working in Canada in 2019, they moved south to lease a four acre block of land and embark on building their farming business. They supply organically produced vegetables to the local community through a vegetable box scheme, attending the weekly SAGE Farmers Markets as well as Southlands Fruit and Veg and local restaurants and cafes.

Eliza and Alex initially approached John Motyka (at BSP Advisory in Moruya) for tax and accounting advice and have maintained an effective and productive relationship over the past year and a half. They have adopted the thorough advice given to them on how to manage their accounts and keep records in order to sustain a successful business in what has been a stressful year financially due to severe weather events and COVID19 impacting their crops and customers.
